Campaign of professional volunteers for philanthropic events and free models for major advertising campaigns, aims to change the way black women are perceived and, more importantly, perceive [...]

Campaign of professional volunteers for philanthropic events and free models for major advertising campaigns, aims to change the way black women are perceived and, more importantly, perceive themselves.

Atlanta Georgia. — January 16, 2013. The Black Doll Affair® [BDA] announces the launch of its Pretty…Philanthropic® programs, Pretty…Philanthropic Volunteers and Pretty…Philanthropic Models. These two campaigns provide professional volunteers to philanthropic events and professional African American models to high profile advertising campaigns. Planning a major event and concerned about recruiting reliable help? Tired of paying too much for professional models? The Black Doll Affair can help.

Announcing yet another solution to a social problem, The Black Doll Affair is a philanthropic organization that provides a solution to the historic doll tests that revealed black children prefer white dolls because they view black dolls as ugly and bad. The solution is to donate toy black dolls to little black girls to remind them of their external beauty, have teen self-esteem summits, engage black women in Conversations of Legacy, and lastly, act as living dolls in their communities. Thereby changing the way black women perceive themselves and are perceived in the media and reminding all involved, or on the sidelines watching, that true beauty comes from giving back. These are the Affairs of the members of The Black Doll Affair — the Black Dolls! Professional philanthropists, The Black Dolls are every day role models and fashion models. They’re also recipients of President Obama’s Presidential Service Award. With thousands of volunteer hours logged annually, the Black Dolls can take the worry out of hiring models and staffing events of any magnitude.

Pretty…Philanthropic Models: On a mission to diversify the face of advertising campaigns and show a variety of hues relatable to an ever-increasing browning America, the BDA Pretty…Philanthropic Models Campaign, was created to reiterate that black is beautiful! To position black women in a positive light and counteract negative images of black women, Black Dolls assigned to this campaign are working professional models that, in the name of The Black Doll Affair, have signed up to donate their b’huetiful likeness to local and national high profile advertising campaigns. In a Vogue interview, referring to how she and other super models were changing the monetary game in modeling, Linda Evangelista said, “We don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day.” “The professional models of the Black Doll Affair are on the opposite side of that quote, they will work for free!” said Dana Hill, BDA Founder and campaign visionary. “Why would the Black Dolls work for free? Because, we’re pretty…philanthropic!”

Pretty…Philanthropic Volunteers: Intensifying their focus on community & legacy building, Hill decided to amplify the Black Dolls volunteerism in 2013. “So many organizations desperately need helping hands. Unfortunately, there are too few to go around and when professional helping hands are needed, many organizations simply can’t afford to bring on the professionals. For philanthropic organizations volunteer ready, our living Dolls give the gift of professionalism and peace of mind,” said Hill.

The Black Doll Affair’s volunteer resume is long and the social impact on their communities is intense. Some of the organizations they are proud to have aligned with include tween summits with YWCA, The Girls Scouts and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, game day readiness with the Super Bowl, toy deliveries with professional sports players, doll deliveries with Mattel, beautifying parks with Hands on Atlanta, building homes with Habitat for Humanity & Clark Howard, hosting red carpet affairs for 100 Black Men of Atlanta and the Women’s International Film Festival with Vivica A. Fox, and giving back to the local community with Macy’s at their Christmas Toy Drive.

The Black Doll Affair® is the answer to all your volunteer needs!

The benefits of Pretty…Philanthropic programming:
BDA will provide professional models & volunteers with Criminal Background Checks on file. BDA will staff your event/model campaign with professionals. BDA will coordinate model & volunteer placement at your event/for your campaign. BDA will manage volunteers for the duration of your event. BDA will work with your event team to implement volunteer uniforms AND provide [as in pay the cost of] the agreed upon uniform. Benefit from the pros that know how to get the job done and have fun! About The Black Doll Affair
Founded in 2007, The Black Doll Affair was created as a solution to doll tests that revealed that black children prefer white dolls and view black dolls and ugly and bad. The Black Doll Affair members are called Black Dolls. The Black Dolls range in shade and hue.

BDA Mission, goal and intention:

Northgate Vehicle Hire, market leader in flexible vehicle hire and complete fleet solutions, has partnered with Theydon Bois and District Friends of Cancer Research UK to help members of the charity celebrate raising £500,000 over the past 40 years.

Northgate’s Waltham Cross van hire depot provided a minibus and driver for 12 fundraisers after they were invited by Cancer Research UK to tour its research laboratory to mark their success. The minibus enabled members of Theydon Bois and District Friends of Cancer Research UK to visit and tour the charity’s facilities and receive a big thank you from the team at Cancer Research UK.

Northgate’s Waltham Cross depot became involved with the charity after appointing Driver and Valeter Peter Parkin to the team over three years ago. Peter has been associated with Theydon Bois and District Friends of Cancer Research UK for over 18 years and sits as Chairman for the charity fundraisers.

Peter Parkin, Chairman of Theydon Bois and District Friends of Cancer Research UK and Driver at Northgate’s Waltham Cross depot, commented:
“We are delighted that Northgate agreed to support our charity. The van and driver that they provided enabled us to visit the fantastic Cancer Research UK facilities and see for ourselves where the money we have raised has been put to good use.”

Colin Graham, Hiredesk Manager at Northgate Waltham Cross, commented:
“When Peter approached me about providing a van for this opportunity, I knew Northgate would be more than happy to support such a worthwhile charity and help it to celebrate such a major milestone. We are extremely proud of Peter and his fundraising team and we wish them the best of luck with raising their next £500,000.”

International rapper, television and movie star, T.I., recently returned to his Bankhead neighborhood to announce the launch of his global humanitarian campaign, GIVE Like a King—to raise awareness and encourage others to give back and get involved in worthy causes. T.I. shared that he plans to engage his fans, and work especially hard to inspire younger demographics to get serious about community involvement, humanitarian efforts and giving back.

He made an essential stop at the Veterans Empowerment Organization (VEO)before hitting the road to promote his highly anticipated eighth studio album, Troubled Man: Heavy is the Head.

T.I. sat down for an exclusive interview with 11 Alive’s, Brenda Wood before attending the private press conference, which included an audience filled with media, veterans and veterans support service organizations. With his wife by his side, T.I. was greeted and honored by a remarkable community of Atlantan’s, including two of the original Tuskegee Airmen, Norris Connally and Ed Johnson, Stellar and Grammy nominated gospel artist, Canton Jones, former homeless veteran, Curtis Butler III, Veteran and representative of Bank of America’s MSAG division, Marsha Jens, Executive Director of VEO, Frantz Fortune and other supporters from all across the City of Atlanta.

T.I. announced to the audience that he would return to VEO in the new year to present a homeless veteran keys to the newest VEO housing unit, which will include some special touches from the Harris family, under his Keys from the KING program which will roll out in 2013.

T.I. shared an emotional account of what it meant to kick off his campaign in his childhood neighborhood…along the streets that he once too struggled to find his way. He ended his remarks in a heartfelt salute and tribute to veterans all around the world. T.I. shares, “To live like a king, you must be willing to give like a king. With that being said, it gives me great honor and privilege to give to those who deserve it the most…our veterans.”

GIVE Like a King is a multi-pronged campaign that will roll out various public service initiatives and partnerships, including Keys from the King—where T.I. will present keys to homes, cars

and many other things to deserving individuals, fans and supporters around world.
